When I paint Birds of Paradise Flowers, they represent freedom to be who you are, wherever that may be. In this painting, I saw all the directions I could go in, all the opportunities. I could be anywhere while at the same time being lured back by the comfort of all the things I know. The truest form of freedom is having the privilege to make choices.
