Rebuilding

What does it mean when you feel heartbroken or like your heart has been shattered? The first thing we have learned to say is that someone or something has hurt us. However, if you're willing to examine the situation that led to the metaphorical broken heart, I think that at the core you'll find that your heartbreak is a result of things not going quite as you had expected, planned, or wanted them to go. You miss what you had, what you felt, and your future plans. You miss your expectations.

Sometimes you didn't see it coming. Other times you may have had an intuitive feeling about a situation, but you pushed for it anyway. You know that you can't control the choices that others make, no matter how heavily you try to influence them. However, you can always be in control of the choices that you make.

When you are able to self-reflect, then the true rebuilding process can begin. Rebuilding means picking up those shattered pieces, but rather than trying to put them back together as they were, making something better out of them instead.

You see, no matter what it is that leaves your heart shattered, you can't go back to the way you were or the way things were. You have new information now that you didn't have before, which means that you have expanded and grown. There are pieces that won't fit into the puzzle anymore, leaving space for new pieces to form. Better yet, there's even more space for the best parts of you to reveal themselves.

What if picking yourself back up means becoming a bigger and better version of yourself? In this episode I talk about what it means to rebuild your heart after a shattering moment. I've channeled the steps to Rebuilding to help you flow with ease into the wondrous new world that awaits you.

This Is Where You'll Find My Heart

In situ: This Is Where You'll Find My Heart
Acrylic on Canvas
48x36x1.5 inches
$3,890

When it comes to manifesting, the things you want and need come to you most easily when you make it easy for that thing/person/opportunity to find you. How do you do that? You show up, you take action, you stay open, you continue to move forward and you take care of yourself.

In the process of creating this painting, I understood that I was giving the Universe a roadmap. Yes, there may be some roadblocks, some wrong turns taken, and some dead ends. You could be looking for a career you love, clients you love, an activity you love, friends you love, or a romantic partner you love. The theory works the same for all of these. When you give the Universe a roadmap, you are committing to showing up in your most authentic way because there is someone looking for you exactly as you are. What you truly desire already wants you more.

It's About a Journey

In situ: It's About a Journey
40x30x1.5 inches
Acrylic, oil, and wax on gallery wrapped canvas
$2,720

It can be hard to see the bigger picture. It takes practice to take a bird's-eye view of a situation unfolding, especially as we're going through an emotional one. When we're going through something heartbreaking, how can we think of anything else except the pain that we are feeling in that moment? We first must honor that feeling, then honor the moment, then honor the journey. It takes practice.

When I went through my own challenging time, I sometimes fell into thoughts of "why did it have to happen this way?" My unwavering belief in God and the Angels, my Spiritual beliefs, my visions and connections with the other side, all got me through. They regularly showed me ways I could heal and what was ahead for me.

Five years later, I can see how everything that happened was part of the journey. I can see how my own healing lead me to healing others and the ability to connect with the higher beings. Sure, I would have wanted it to happen differently, but this was the path. None of this would have happened for me if I hadn't had the courage to move through that temporary pain and look for hope in what was next.

It's about understanding that these are all moments to appreciate, accumulating together to form our journey. What moment do you want the courage to move through? I know that courage is already within you.

When the Angels guide my hands

A fellow Medium friend of mine once told me that the Angels showed her how they guide my hands when I paint. I completely trust her intuitive gifts, however, I'm a see-it-to-believe-it kind of person. It wasn't till I noticed something outside of myself moving my hands while working in the studio that I understood the message that she had delivered to me.

I started working on this abstract painting in December 2020 when I attended the Gathering of the Creatives virtually. My experience at this full weekend workshop was an absolutely spiritual artistic adventure for me. It felt like my soul had reached another level in both the creative and the spiritual parts of my life, and that these two parts had finally united. However, I was really confused about the approach to this painting. When I work on abstracts, there is raw emotion behind the process, but there was none of that here initially. So I continued to make marks and add layers, wondering where I was going with this.

Eventually, I did what many painters have to do at some point in their careers. I made some big brush strokes across the canvas to intentionally ruin the piece. I knew that I couldn’t make the painting worse, so I would only move up from there. I was still confused about the painting, but it helped me to express the movement that I felt onto the canvas. I added a message to myself and then worked to cover it up. Ultimately I was very happy with the colors I chose and the way the squares overlapped each other, I was happy with the movement and the feeling of joy, but there was still something missing. I did what I normally do when I'm not sure of where I'm going - I left it alone.

One morning in March while I was in meditation, I asked God, the Angels, and Spirit one of my usual questions: What would you have me do today? I immediately saw an image of how I was going to complete this painting. They showed me how I would make a big creamy scribble with pigment sticks. It wasn't my studio day, but I went into the studio for something else and that's when I saw this canvas again. I had a sudden urge to pick it up and do as I had been guided to do. I took my pigment stick out and I started to scribble the top line.

I began to smudge the pigment with my fingertips (it's a very creamy consistency) and it was at this point that I realized that I hadn’t even been looking at what I was doing. I had no control. My hands were being guided. Then I decided to make a second scribble below and again I began to smudge the pigment. This time my hands didn't need to be guided because I knew exactly what needed to be done. When I brought the canvas into the natural light, I realized that what I had created looked to me like God's White Light. It truly was a magical experience.
